Notes Has Different Features on Macs and PCs

macpcWhile some programs have different interfaces when they’re operating on a PC or a Mac, not many have different features based on their operating system.  In a recent blog post on the Working Collaboration Blog, Anthony Holmes states that you can index Notes databases with the Mac search system, Spotlight.

While you can do the same on a PC, you need to set up your Desktop Search in Windows so that your Lotus Notes’ content is included in your PC’s more general indexing system.  There has also been talk amoung those at Microsoft about making Lotus Notes’ content visible to Microsoft Windows Desktop Search.

But, Holmes also argues that Notes on a Mac is better than on a PC, because “the capability is visible and everything is already in place so that it ‘just works’ once you’ve completed the Configuration dialog.”

Of course, that’s only one man’s opinion.  What do you think?
